dear friends,
today is my first day at stopping smoking. many people consider addiction
to nicotine to be just as powerful as heroine
and other major drugs. i would agree. the worst times are not moments such
as now when i am doing fairly well.
the difficult times will be moments of loneliness, depression and sadness
when there seems to be no other alternative, no hope.

i will have to bear these moments alone, as they usually come in the middle
of the night.
